The Kite

On a not too windy day about a week ago, Raven wanted to go  outside to fly her kite. It was going alright, but it flew better when she ran.

We both tried and tried with limited success. As we were close to calling it quits, a Burmese man who Jay and I met many years ago in a house church we were all part of came walking up.

We have seen him here and there over the years. He is well-connected with the other Burmese people in our complex.

He asked if he could try our kite because we looked like we needed help (we did!). When he realized it wouldn’t fly, he said he would make one for Raven. He used to make them in Burma, he said.

A couple of days later, as we went out the back door, we found the kite in the photo above safely tucked between our door and mosquito net.

His kindness and faithfulness to craft a kite for our daughter warmed all of hearts! We are excited for a windy day to test it out and to thank him for the gift!
